Was born on May 31, 1949. Graduated from the University of Buenos Aires in 1973, he attended the Harvard University Program of Instruction for Lawyers in 1983.


At the beginning of his career he joined the legal department of a private local bank. Afterwards, he was part of the law offices of Curutchet & Odriozola and, later, of Abeledo Gottheil Abogados where he became partner in 1990. Between 1985 and 1986 he was a visiting associate with Valdés-Fauli, Cobb & Petrey (now Gunster & Yoakley) of Miami, Florida. In 1992 he joined Negri, Teijeiro & Incera, where he was a partner from 1997 until 2006, when he left such firm to start Díaz Valdez Abogados (now Diaz Valdez & Fernández Risposi).

Mr. Diaz Valdez has focused his practice on banking law and has represented, among others banks BNP, ING, UBS, ABN-AMRO Bank, The Bank of Nova Scotia and Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior (BLADEX). He has also developed and extensive practice in legal issues related to the import financing of equipment, representing Caterpillar Financial Services, Cisco Systems Capital and Tetra Laval International S.A.

Notwithstanding such specialization, he has practiced law in other areas representing major clients in the river and waterway transportation industry (American Commercial Barge Line), in the hospitality/time share sectors (Wyndham Hotel & Resorts), and in the field of audiovisual services (DIRECTV).
